Coach Developer, Sport & Psychology Coach

Hansen Bay

This isn't just about Sport, it's Life

Hansen’s academic background is in Physical Education and Psychology. He was the former Assistant Director for Coaching Development at the Singapore Sport Institute (SSI).

His current appointments include:

  • Coach Educator with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
  • Coach Developer with the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE)
  • Coach Developer with Singapore Sport Institute
  • Sport & Psychology Coach with Mental Edge (Singapore)
  • National coach for Goalball.

Hansen is the recipient of the Singapore Disability Sports Coach Award for 2019 and 2021.

His extensive experience in coach education and curriculum development has been critical in the design of the CYC program and training of the coach/facilitators for the program.

The ESL (Effort, Support & Learning) reflection method was developed by Hansen. Although it is not validated by research, it is intuitive and easy to apply. Hansen has taught the ESL reflection model to coaches, teachers and athletes both locally and abroad.

As a sport and psychology coach, he taught athletes ranging from students to those competing at the Olympics how to cope with the inevitable challenges that comes with the pursuit of excellence, and to perform under pressure. These are also the same lessons that we are teaching through the CYC program.

Besides, having served as a PE teacher with MOE, he is familiar with the idiosyncrasies of youths and what makes them tick!
